Kabandha paused for a while to enable the Kakutstha brothers to assimilate what he told them. Then he continued "Oh, Rama, I will now tell you as to how to reach the place Sugreeva is hiding. Now have a recourse to westward until you find the trees of Rose-apple, Priyaala, Jackfruit, Plaksha, Banyan, Tinduka, Pipal, Karnikara, Mango and also trees like Dhanva, Naaga, Tilaka, Naktamaala, blue Ashoka, Kadamba, Karaviira, Agnimukha, Ashoka, red-sandalwood trees and Neem.
"There you can enjoy the ambrosial fruits of those trees. On crossing over that forest you will enter another one with blossomy flowers as well as lovely fruits, which replicates the heavenly Nandana gardens, and a replica of North-Kuru, an all endowing province.
"In there, the trees bear enormous branches which will be crouching under the weight of their own fruits, and everywhere such trees will be shining forth like shiny clouds and shining mountains. Peregrinating such fine places and by trekking from mountain to mountain, from forest to forest, you go on trekking until you reach the auspicious lotus-lake yclept Pampa.
"Oh, Rama that Pampa Lake is famous for its fishes, red-carps, and blunt-snouted small porpoises, and a sort of sprats, which are neither scraggy, nor with many fish-bones. Erst there were self-collected sages, the disciples of Sage Matanga.
"Oh, Rama, albeit the passing of those sages through the pearly gates, their maidservant, a long-living one and now an anchoress, named Shabari, can be seen there, even today. She has determined to live until she sees you. Oh, Rama, on your taking course to that western bank of Pampa Lake, you will find the unequalled and arcane hermitage of the sage Matanga.
"Sage Matanga so methodised that woodland, where even the elephants were rendered incapable to trespass in that hermitage of sage Matanga disturbing its serenity. Oh, Rama, that woodland looks like the heavenly Nandana gardens, overspread with divers birds is renowned as 'Matanga woodland'.
"In front of the Pampa there is a bountiful but very difficult to climb mountain with trees in full blossom, which is well-protected by baby elephants, and which in earlier times was created by Brahma for a certain purpose, and that is Mt. Rishyamuka.
"Sugreeva dwells there in a cave along with some other vanaras." .
Rama thanked Kabandha and indicated that he may leave for his abode.
Kabandha nodded and before leaving reiterated "you befriend Sugreeva." and then he vanished.
